Abstract:

Software has increasingly become the backbone of our technical development and major global industries. Software security breaches these days cost companies’ enormous fines and regulatory constraints. The challenging task nowadays is to develop operationally hacker-resilient software. Buildings have been known to collapse without a solid foundation, and the same is true when it comes to developing software. Software must consider several fundamental information security concepts to be secure and resilient to hackers. Applying software security engineering concepts and techniques in building hacker-resilient software is essential to address all these challenges. Software security engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with all aspects of secure software development. In this lecture, I will discuss the importance and need of software security engineering and the work done in this domain at the IRC for Intelligent Secure Systems.
